2.                  infer how the distance of a planet from the sun affect the temperatures on the planet.

3.                  identify what makes Earth unique among the planets.

4.                  describe three unique properties of water.

5.                  identify the four essentials of life.

6.                  identify and describe the regions of Earth in which living things are found.

7.                  describe the three main types of rocks that make up the lithosphere.

8.                  explain why fresh water is a valuable resource for organisms.

9.                  measure rainfall using a rain gauge.

10.              diagram the layers of the atmosphere.

11.              describe the characteristics of each layer.

12.              apply changes in the characteristics of the atmosphere to their effects on organisms.

13.              describe the regions of the biosphere.

14.              explain how organisms interact with the biosphere.

15.              analyze the importance of the parts of the biosphere to food production.
